Good evening everyone,

Let me throw a dark horse into the charity race.  This came from the Ascension Catholic Church bulletin this morning:

Alan Shawn Feinstein, for 15 years, has been giving away $1 million each year to anti-hunger agencies throughout the country. This year becomes the 16th annual fundraising event. Any donations you send to Social Concerns during March 1st to April 30th will get Feinstein money from Rhode Island added to it.  And the more of a donation you send in, the more of the Feinstein $1 million we will get, thanks to you!  This is amazing!  Your donation toward this campaign make you partners in the most successful ongoing effort ever to fight hunger!!! We thank Mr. Feinstein for his generous heart and his determination to stop hunger!  To expand on donations from the community ... if you know of any school, community or ORGANIZATION that would like to join in to help us with this challenge, it's simple: they can start a food collection and drop it off at our pantry during March and April.  We can report each food item donated as $1 per item or per pound!
Donations can include CASH, CHECKS, and FOOD ITEMS. It's that easy!

In short, we offer a booth to the pantry at the Taste of Freedom.  If they accept, they can collect the food cans on site.  If they do not accept the booth, we can deliver the cans for a great photo op and good press release.  Donations can be made by check to the pantry, which to my knowledge is a 501 3c, so we never have to touch the money, or we can right one big check afterwards.

I can see the headlines now, "TEA Party's 'Taste of Freedom' feeds the hungry" as we partner with a key organization in the fight against ObamaCare.  Not only is money collected, but food is collected for the local pantry, as well as, a donation is given to the pantry by Mr. Feinstein.

AVET would be my first pick because it would help out soldiers and veterans, like myself.  However, there are huge political points to be won, locally and nationally, if we can raise a lot of donations for our local pantries.  I volunteer to spearhead the coordination between the pantry and our group, if this charity is selected.
