Hi everyone, Hope all is well. AVET Project is staying busy as usual. We are asking
for your help and please share with others.

ProjectRecuperation&Reintegration (PR&R)  -- Program Synopsis--

Right now, we are preparing for AVET Project's retreat program for combat veterans,
"Project Recuperation & Reintegration" (PR&R) which addresses the need for reintegration
education/counseling that our military members returning from combat deployments
 would otherwise go without. PR&R provides a soft-structured setting for the participants
to decompress, relax, and reconnect with one another in a stress-free, yet educational
and therapeutic environment from November 14th-17th.

We are looking for Sponsors and DONATIONS of any kind.

Throughout PR&R, a variety of coping methods and relaxation techniques are employed
and taught which effectively address Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); effects
of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); stress mediation; and suicide risk assessment/prevention.
(NOTE: suicide risk is sharply rising among military members according to DOD statistics)
AVET Project's Director of Counseling, Joanne Ivens (a Euchee Creek Elder from the
Muskogee Nation), supervises therapy sessions and invites deeper investigation/exploration
of pertinent issues through hypnotherapy. She incorporates cognitive therapy techniques
acquired through her certification from the DoD's Center for Deployed Psychology
 in Austin, Texas.

Credentialed therapists are present to provide direct counseling as well as screening
for PTSD/TBI.

Dr. Scott Fairchild, a licensed psychologist who retired as a Lt. Col. from 
the US Army and currently operates Baytree Behavioral Health in Melbourne, Florida,
is a key facilitator at PR&R. He was the Founder and Co-Director of the Stress, 
Trauma, and Acute Response (STAR) Team for the Kennedy Space Center. Additionally,
he co-founded Welcome Home Vets, Inc., a not-for-profit organization operating in
Brevard County and in North Florida. During his 21 years on active duty with the
 Army Medical Department (1975 to 1996), he worked in combat health care administration
for half of his career, before completing his Doctorate of Psychology at the University
of Denver and his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1989. Dr. Fairchild
specializes in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, primarily with Veterans. Veterans 
from around the country seek his care for evaluations and treatment. He has worked
with PTSD, mood disorders, ADHD, as well as other brain-based disorders.

Garren Cone, an Air Force veteran, retired legal advocate for veterans, and founder
of AVET Project   provides instruction and conducts informative classes on potential
VA and State disability benefits, including VA Healthcare enrollment. Course materials
include a QRG© (Quick Reference Guide), workbooks, hand-outs, multimedia presentations,
and journals.

PR&R is typically a 3 day, 2 night "land based" program, however, thanks to D&D 
travel (owned and operated by USAF Major Donna Smith) AVET Project will be offering
PR&R through a new venue: we got a great deal on a "Veterans Cruise" for 4 days/3
nights! Like all AVET Project offerings, PR&R is FREE to all registrants on a "first
come, first served" basis.

PR&R participants enjoy recreational opportunities, delicious meals, massage, camaraderie,
and receive an Individualized Action Plan (IAP©) upon completion of the program.
 Financial support, be they grants, gifts-in-kind, or donations go towards offsetting
transportation costs; lodging; meals; course materials; therapeutic massage; mental
health counselors; and recreational therapy activities.
